I just posted a review of Spiral Graphics Genetica 3 Studio. I have, also, included the other versions as well. It is a great program for generating textures and materials including animated materials. Thought this might be of interest to some of you.

Thaks, Paula, I downloaded the demo, and need a little time to try it out. You make it look very simple, bujt it's a little strange on my end. Need to check out the tutorials I guess.

Bruno -

The tutorials are really helpful. Once you play around with the way they use nodes, it makes sense. The videos are short, but to me were clear. While I had reviewed 2.5, I hadn't used it in a while because I was doing other things, so I had to refamiliarize myself with it.  Parts of it were also brand new. The various tutes led me through it. Once I understood what I was doing, I could apply it.

It is cool this time with the HDRI "support" tweaks making and such...finally something to buy again. Maybe Geek@Play will do somthing...or not now that there sold out :D

I think Geek@Play are in bed with "everyones" favorite texture software Filter Forge. Still, it would be nice to be fair and acknowledge that Genetica 3 is just as powerful and more in many areas.

I posted the fact that I wrote this review there, also. Have not seen any comments, yet.

I bought Genetica 3 (the pro version, not studio I don't do much animation) and I must say I really like it :). I also like very much the fact that they listen to suggestion made by users and, if they find it could be a useful feature they're ready to implement them.

I think the reason GeekAtPlay caters to Filter Forge is because the price is lot more reasonable. Lets face it:
$899.00, $399.00, and $149.00 for the 3 different versions of Genetica
are much higher than:
$299.00, $199.00, and $99.00 for the Filter Forge versions.
Now don't anyone get mad, bacause I am not promoting nor am I am saying one is better than the other, but economy being as it is today everyone wants to save a buck.

I would rather be Politically Incorrect,
Then have Politically Correct-Incorrectness!!!

Thanks Paula. Great software. Even without the lousy exchange rate between Australia and the US $ it's way too pricey for me. I appreciate your reviews though :=)
