Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 12 6:08 pm)
The Poser 'Background' is not actually a part of your 3D scene, it just defines what to put in the image pixels where there is nothing in your scene to render. So how it appears in the render is not as well defined as you might expect. (Someone else might come up with a better explanation!)
Anyway, the usual recommendation from the experts is to put your 'background' image onto a prop such as a one-sided square, and position this prop appropriately in your scene. You will need to scale the prop to fit the image size.

You may have Poser configured to render to a specific size, perhaps other than your document window size. If that's the case, you're not rendering to 800 by 600.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Ah yes, I remember going through this^^^^^^^^^^Quote - You need to tick the "Auto_Fit" box on the Image node for the background image.
This worked..................thanks for the hidden trick. I have noticed Poser has many simple tasks buried in the menu design. They should move this one to the main menu drops.

I am a newbie to poser 6 and I made great progress on learning the basics but this has me stumped.
My background image 800X600 and document window 800X600 match but when I render in firefly the background image distorts and becomes square in backgound. I get grey edges on both sides. The figure looks right, so what is the problem?
Is this a render thing, a camera thing or a user thing (me).............??
Any help?
