Quote - When I save a scene and re-open in there is a dialog box that asks for strange geometries ,  "Geo" or "Geometr", "M", "3", "r" or a variety of other labels then since the label doesn't exist the prop doesn't either. 

I'd suggest to do the following:

1. reapply the latest service release and see if that helps loading from a newly created scene
2. check the scene file with a text editor to see how the path of the prop looks like in it (is it already wrong in the file or not?)
