I think it's a style exaggeration born form animation. Similar to how innocense in anime is often reflected in eyesize even though no one reacts to the differing sizes within the same production.
I also think there is predisent in american comics by artists like Bart Sears (if I am remebering his name right) over vascularity for dynamic Bodies. Sort of like how all comic females have tiny waists and huge.. you get the point.
Also with the exception of the upper body veins branch away from the heart so you wouldn't see leg veins branching up from the ankle, it would be the opposite. They branch out and become smaller as they leave the heart. Main trunk to branches just like a tree. Checked out that guy you mentioned, from what I saw he's great, but didn't see any veins just muscle. Sorry to make a big deal out of this but if a person takes the time to do a product they should do a little research and get it right, esp at the prices he charges.

Have the folks doing these textures even looked at an anatomy book? The answer I get is muscles have to have veins so that's why they are there. Veins don't run down your back from your neck and squiggle across. They do on the front of your body, and your arms and legs, but I have yet to see it on the back. Sorry, just bugs me to see these items for sale and know the quality is ruined by this simple thing. He tells me I don't have to use the veins but if I don't use the ones on the back I also won't be using the ones that are correct and that would be the only reason I would buy this product.
