No training whatsoever in graphics. Just lots of experimenting for fun.

I studied computer science and electrical engineering in college but graphics hardware at the time was impossibly expensive. None of my professional software development experience is 3D stuff. Some 2D image manipulation, but only to create nice effects in business and network applications. (For example, how to dynamically stain an image or convert to gray scale to indicate that an icon has been selected, or a business process in some specific state with color, without making graphics people produce variations on the icon.)
