Now that's a weird combination of CPU and OS. The Athlon XP series is pure 32 bits, it shouldn't even be able to run XP 64 bit. The fastest AthlonXP was the Barton core series, up to 3400+.
It may have been a typo, you may have an Athlon64 3000+, those exist(ed) too. If you really have an Athlon64 based system AND Windows XP 64bit version, I'd advise you to cram as much RAM on your mainboard as it will hold - XP 64 bit will use every byte of it, and everything will run smoother, not only Poser.
The Athlon64 architecture and Windows XP 64 bit have a limit of 128 GB (as far as I know), and there's no way your mainboard can hold THAT much RAM.
The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter
