Good advice by almostfm. Make a list of what you're good at, of what you enjoy doing, and what you'd like to learn. Agencies and (potential) employers are interested in what you CAN do, not in what you CAN NOT do!
Look for the positive aspects in yourself. Those are your selling points on the job market.
As for references, they don't have to be people that know you well, they just have to know who you are. Neighbours are fine, or maybe an employee of a store you often visit. The minister of your church, one of your teachers.
The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter
