I sent you something via PayPal. It's not as much as I would have liked to send, but I had committed to send funds to 2 friends who are also having problems due to lay offs and illness.  I'll try and send some more in a couple of weeks.

You have some offers for places to stay in other States.  If you aren't able to drive, what about using some of the money people are sending to you to buy a bus ticket to one of the places where you have been offered shelter? A bus is cheaper than gas and you don't have to worry about the car breaking down and having to find funds to fix it.  You can even take stuff with you on the bus in the shipping compartments.
