Energy supply (portable nuclear generators are what you'd really need, or a bank of super capacitors), weather (worsening dispersion and reflection) and range (dispersion) are problems for lasers here on Earth.
Theoretically they are the best as the problem is, you're facing swarms of dirt cheap, dumb weapons, Katyushas being the worst for swarms.

Rail gun technology is still problematical, but that's another good method.

Israel has devleoped specialist anti missile missiles to try and stop this problem ,forget name off hand
problem with AMMs is of course, limited number and cost, versus swarms of dirt cheap dumb fire missiles. Hence lasers, fast firing cheap to fire, is best, theoretically.
