I think you touched upon a reason why I find it harder when animals are mistreated then people... It happens a lot more often, and they don't have the same protections as we do... But yet, living with kitties and dogs, yes, they are different shape... but I don't see them as lesser beings. There are so many things I can relate to in them, we're not all that different, not to a point where we are more valuable. We're just arrogantly on top of the food chain right now.

But to any cat or a dog, their life is just as important to them, then our life is to us. People only think they're lesser, because they don't care, can't spend the resources, food chain rank and whatever else.   :-
