Win 98 is the problem.Too much memory for windows. After I changed to WIN2000, no more problems. My System: AMD 800 640 MB PC133 RAM Asus K7V 16 MB GeForce All pictures on my page are made with WIN2000. MazakHHMM. Interesting. I seem to recall something about a memory limitation in Win9X, but I always thought that external programs would be able to map to it. I have MemTurbo running & u can definately see the ram being used. I found a little progy called X-Setup. It is kind of like Tweak UI but much better. Has about 300 plugins to change all kinds of system & security settings. One of the plugins says it will allow windows to access memory beyond it's normal range. I think I'll give it a try & see what happens. Anyone know what the standard limit is for Win9x? Thanks for all the replys.
Well, I upped from 98 to win Me, partially because of this problem, (but mostly because win 98 sucks :) and I have the same problem, I can get a way with V2 and the "updo" or V2 and the hires maps, but all three and it still hangs. Though that is better than on 98 where it died with plain V2 and "updo" so... I'm running a P3 700 with 128Mb on my laptop, but it used to do the same things with complex scenes on my AMD 650 with 256Mb desktop, (also running win Me) so I'm more inclined to believe it's a poser problem, but one that is aided and abeted in the exreme by the crapness of windows :) later jb
I have also V2,Noa,Asia,Daz HiresMap.... I use the Program many hours without any problems. Win2000 uses memory much better. And Win2000 has Dualboot, so you can use Win98 further. Mazak
To keep thing short -- your problems will cease when you upgrade to win2k. ME is just a glorified version of 98, you havent changed a thing other than your GUI graphics. I run win2k professional on all my workstations, but a few weeks back I had a problem and went back to win9x. Even though I have a powerhouse system Poser kept freezing when I tried to render complex, memory intensive scenes. As soon as I switched back to win2k everything went back to normal. Windows 2000 has much better memory management than the 9x operating systems because its NT based. Changing to Millennium wont solve a thing because it is just a slight update of the 98 kernel, which is an update of the 95 kernel. Soon the 9x OSes will cease to exist, as Microsoft plans to release XP and discontinue its 9x line. Windows XP is an NT based operating system, and is (in my opinion) just a graphically enhanced Windows 2000 with more built-in drivers and a few added features like integrated video editing.

I am having a problem with Voluptuous Vicki & the Noa maps (either the preloaded .cr2 or addingthem to Vicki 1 or 2). With VV, if I delete the default hair, add some items, new hair, tex, etc. when I hit the render button, the render progress bar pops up & sits there. The mouse still moves & I can run other apps, but Poser is hosed. CTRL+ALT+DEL shuts it down immediatly with no delay or the standard "not responding do you want to wait" prompt. I have the same issue with Noa. Sometimes I can get a render or 2, but it will soon freeze on one of them. My system is more than powerful enough to handle these characters & a lot more. Anyone else have this issue? Any thoughts? Thanks.
