Quote - So we move the same amount of daylight to a different part of the day, and one hour of darkness to the other end of the year. Where does the saving come in?

Come to think of it, what does "saving" mean these days? My partner came home and said, Look Izi, I saved £20 on this gorgeous dress. It was only £99.

Sweetheart, I replied, you didn't save £20, you spent 99. But you look great in the dress.

I believe it had to do with Farmers and Growing Season.

I agree 100%, how can you say you saved 20 pounds when you spent 99 pounds.
I suppose I could say, I saved 99 pounds today, I didn't buy thar sale item.
