It is not a question of venom: it is just that E-On, in order to pursue utterly delusional (in the psychiatric sense) dreams of "professional applications" is thouroughly pissing its current user base.

You will not hear me whining about Silo 2 because I have simply stopped using it (being really happy with Hexagon): when people complain about something, it is because this "something" is important  to them and they are upset when seeing the firm building this "something" torpedoing the product.

Let's examine the effects of the recent price hikes and product positioning:

  1. Infinite/xStream is now exaclty in the same price range of real professional products, without having their functionalities making people wonder: well, if it costs like Modo 401, why should I not get Modo instead?
  2. made product like Carrara competitive, providing business to DAZ (on DAZ forums there were several threads about Vue, now, lots of people are looking into Carrara and apparently no Bryce user is considering defecting to Vue, even after DAZ mistreatment of Bryce);
  3. allow Planetside (the developers or Terragen) to raise their prices, increasing THEIR income and THEIR resources for further TG development.
  4. put Infinite out of the price range of hobby users (and perhaps also Complete); in addition, made the module-by-module upgrade strategy anti-economical. The creation of lots of stupid packagings of the low end range is nothing more than a miserable marketing ploy.

Is anybody here fanboy enough to assert that the above mentioned consequences are good for the future of Vue and E-On?

Bye...
