It looks like reversed normals to me - in other words, the facets which are coming out dark are facing the other way. You could try checking the normals forward option in the material room for the object. If that renders properly, you can fix it permanently by selecting the offending facets using the grouping tool and reversing the normals - or you can do it in C4D if you prefer.
