The Girl is extremely stylized for my tastes and slightly useless since there's no "The Guy" to pose her along side. So I agree that the market which drives content creation is limited to base instincts.

I got into 3d because I needed an inexpensive way to create scenes of a hero running away from an exploding helicopter o_O 

I'm currently learning to model my own humanoid. Third time's a charm.
