I guess I just don't understand the point of the thread at all, since it opens this way:

I fail to see what Poser 8 has to do with Girl 4. Girl 4 is a (one) add-on figure/character/morph by a company that doesn't make Poser. Moreover, DAZ talking about "most-anticipated" figure of the year - that's just hype, and anyway, it's no news. It IS their most-anticipated figure of the year, since they already came out with M4 in 2008, and nobody expects a V5 this year.

Personally, I downloaded G4 because she was free. I doubt I'll use her in an actual render - maybe some expression morphs or something, I dunno. I really only try for realistic characters, to which G4 doesn't pretend.

But let's set all that aside. Let's specifically apply your comments to a situation where those people who are using G4 are also making requests for Poser 8 that would aid realism (I don't even know if that's true, but let's assume). Any animator worth his salt will tell you that even with the most outlandish of characters, you need a certain believability from lighting and shadows etc for the whole thing to work, or it will look ridiculously amateur. Ergo, I don't see any sort of incompatibility if someone who loves G4 also wants global illumination etc etc.

To sum up: Girl 4 is not DAZ, and DAZ by no means is Poser. But even if none of that were true, it wouldn't mean the improvements sought for Poser 8 would be beside the point.

So who cares if DAZ is hyping G4? Who cares if a bunch of other people like a product you don't? It doesn't affect you in any way, and even less does it affect how Poser 8 gets developed.
