Another thing to check: is the Origin of your armlet properly placed?
Load it by itself, hit Alt-W-J to bring up the Joint Editor, and look at the
green cross. If the green cross is way out of line, pull it into the middle
of the armlet and resave as unparented prop.
Then bring the human back into the scene and try parenting again.
