Interesting request, and you're right, getting the "tone" right on idiomatic expressions is very hard in a foreign language, even when you speak it very well.
Instead of "bite my dust" -- I'd say "eat my dust" . Means exactly what you seem to be trying for, but "bite" has a somewhat nastier tone to it, and "eat" is more idiomatic.
