The 22 inch monitor was a good choice.  When I got my new PC I wasn't thinking and got the 24 inch... and then I had to end up buying a new desk because my old one couldn't fit the new monitor in it without the monitor being 12 inches from my face.  It ended up taking me 3 months to find the right desk for me considering my new needs because none of them in the style I like could fit a 24 inch monitor.
