Although I have recently had to go to Cinema4D to produce a recent animation - that'll be a) lack of time and b) my fault as I couldn't figure out the solution to the problem in the time I had left.

...as I say despite that I still find that I can produce a decent still render in Bryce faster than I can in C4D - that too may be my fault for not yet knowing enough about C4d's materials, knowing as I do a good deal (although not by any means - all) about materials in Bryce, I therefore can set things up in Bryce much faster than I can in Cinema, lights too I find easier in Bryce, but that could be because I have saved some various light rigs in Bryce, making it a simple single click to add them to a scene.

I agree that using terrains is a great workaround in Bryce to produce complex models, but that's no disavantage, I think of it more as an advantage - there always seems to be more than one way to do things in Bryce.

Okay so you need a paint/graphics program to do that (or an image from someone else), but that kind of workaround can happen to anyone.

I recently had to export an animation from Premiere - with just the audio, and then again with just the titles - and then import those into After Effects with the C4D animation, and then re-cut the animation sequences to match what I had in Premiere - just so as to put it all together in AE and export from there... and all that just because CS4's Premiere mucks up the animation, squishing it badly, or shifting it to one side of the view on export - which After Effects doesn't.

Really weird!

I love the masking facility in Bryce, which I'm just re-investigating, Distance, Height and Object masking are such nice things to be able to do.

Oops, sorry, I seem to have hopped onto the soap box that rj9663 just left...
