Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
In your Poser Preferences, under Library. There are three options for file search: None, Shallow, or Deep.
Deep file search means that Poser will search all connected libraries for the required files.
Shallow I think means that it will only search the Poser main library, or possibly the current library, before giving up.
None means that it will not search at all, so it will only find texture and geometry files that have the correct file path.

Ah, so you get the message when you render, not when you load the shader. That's not what you said. :O)
Sorry, I don't know what could cause that. You might still check the File Search preference setting, just to be sure.

sometimes when i load the shader then i also get the it in the material room.
If you use the textured preview, I haven't an idea either. There is a script to collect everything needed into one directory in the Python folder. You could use that and always point at that directory, as a workaround.
CollectSceneInventory.py or something like that.....

ice-boy, DarkEdge asked something that I also wondered about, but you misunderstood his question.
He asked you where the texture file that you are opening is stored on your hard drive.
Is it stored in your Runtime:Textures folder?
Or somewhere else not in your Runtime?

I don't know about that, sorry.
What I do know is that you need File Search set to 'Deep' (in Preferences) to make Poser look in all Runtimes. (Did you check that setting?)
or
You must make sure that all your references to texture files within the material that you are loading are full and correct file paths. If you check the file paths for the image maps inside your shader files (using a text editor) it might show up where the problem is.
Otherwise I'm completely lost on this problem. :O)

since i have Poser Pro i almost always need to add some textures to my figure materials. sometimes even meshes .
so for example i save my skin shader for AM. the next time i load the shader i need to search for my eyeballs and lashes.
this never happened in poser 7.
