When I refer to hyper-colours, I'm referring to existing shaders. Or specular values > 1.
But, I get the impression with that response that you've answered my question. Any colours plugging into specular or reflection channels need gamma-correcting.

A specular value > 1 that is later multiplied with a number far less than one is not a hyper color.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
