You had mentioned at some point in the past I needed to combine functionality into um, functions, I guess. I was clueless on where to begin. As I look over your code, I can see more clearly why I was clueless: I was missing a lot of the major building blocks for modularization. As I am now painfully (embarrassingly) aware, my code reflects a profound lack of knowledge in Python programming. I'll get it, but it may take a bit.

This isn't just a script for a shader, Bill, it's a mini-course on Python programming. I hope you don't mind if I ask a few gazzilion questions as to why and how and what is this doing and...

I've never seen anything so elegant... nevertheless, it will take some real concentration to even understand this code, let alone write anything along those lines or with that degree of sophistication.
