Open your CR2 of the characters in a text editor and see if the references are relative (":runtime:geometries:foo:bar.obj") or absolute ("c:poserruntimegeometriesfoobar.obj").  if it looks like the latter, then that's what's causing the problem if you've moved that file from that specific location.
