From a sellers [a personal one] prospective I don't recall anyone offering more than the reccomended.
Some folks pay the full price, though most folks offer 50%-75% of the RRP. Which I don't mind as I belive getting $1 is better than getting zero dollars, and this approach allows customers greater choice - kinda like a customer led sale. Plus customers can use that saving and buy more than 1 thing.
BTW - Disclosure here I was an advcate for this pricing model. Which I know some sellers are - regardless of site - are not keen on. Some belive that low pricing devalues the work we put into our creations. While I agree there is a 'cost' to making something, even just time, I think the benefits of this easily outweigh the negatives.
Especailly on the artistic and exposure level, it gets your work 'out here' , rather than 'sittng on the shelf' this approach allows stuff to be seen, its being used and most importantly it's being enjoyed by other artists.
