Poser Technical F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 13 12:50 am)
Welcome to the Poser Technical Forum.
Where computer nerds can Pull out their slide rules and not get laughed at. Pocket protectors are not required. ;-)
This is the place you come to ask questions and share new ideas about using the internal file structure of Poser to push the program past it's normal limits.
New users are encouraged to read the FAQ sections here and on the Poser forum before asking questions.
A 3d model is basically made up of points in space, the lines that connect those points, and faces that give the model surface. 'Vertices' are the 'points' of the model. Morph targets in Poser only work on the models they were made for. They require that the model they are applied to has the same number of vertices recorded in the same order in order to function properly. If you have a brand new figure, you need to make brand new morph targets for it. These can be done using the magnets in Poser or externally in a 3d modelling program. Hope this helps.

The above is a link to a tutorial on using the magnets in Poser. As far as modellers go, I personally love Lightwave more than my own kids (okay, I don't really have any kids) although I would say it's way too expensive just for making morph targets. There are a few modellers out there (like early versions of Amapi, Strata and even Truespace) you can get free with certain 3D magazines and such. Make sure you try the programs out before you pay for one. Hope this helps. This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. Our own cookies make user accounts and other features possible. Help! I am new to poser and have bought poser 4. I am trying to make figures for use with microsoft agent, u know, those little anyoing figures that pop up on the screen and bother u all day! Anyway, I have a converted 3ds figure that I want to use as a test. I had Anthony (the man teck man at poser) Get the leg, arm, and body motions working and make the figure a pz3 file. He said I should get pro pack now. More money!! Anyway, the head/face has no morphs on it. The book is very vauge on this subject and my buddy Anthony is gettin frustrated with me asking questions. I had found some face morphs but when I try and "put them on" I get errors. Is ther now some kind soul out there that woul take pitty on me and help? Also , what are vertices? this is one error I get when trying to use a morph?
