Sort of :) but its better than that
- Import MFD into 3d coat
- Paint directly onto the mesh in 3d coat using brushes, textures and all sorts of other tools. As you paint you can paint onto 3 different channel maps - Colour, Specular and Displacement
- You can synchronise your textures with Photoshop to use any ps tools that you like, then synch back again :)
A texturers dream :)
John.
OMG!!! That sounds so amazing! I know I'd be good at texturing because I love to sew and I have all kinds of design ideas in my head from when I used to tailor real clothing. But I just don't have the patience for the tedious fiddling that is involved with trying to texture a flat template and then having to try and match up front/back/side seams or imaginary lines when making straps or waist/neck lines with front/back flat templates. I've always wished that I could just have the whole 3D mesh of the clothing item on the screen and be able to just paint directly onto it because that would take the tediousness trial and error out of it.
Is there a demo of the program that I could try before buying? I do have Photoshop CS but am not very good with it. I started with Paint Shop Pro and haven't really worked at learning Photoshop because the method for doing things is just so different and I have a hard time relearning something and have always went back to PSP because it's just been easier and faster to do things instead of fiddling and trying to do it in Photoshop. But if this 3D Coat can do what I think you are saying it can, then I would make the extra effort to learn Photoshop!
