Subject: OT: My backup device causing boot-up problems

At least you can access your files.  My Seagate worked fine until I loaded about 500 gigs of files onto it and now it will only show up in "My Computer" if it's been unplugged and disconnected from my computer for a period of time. However, it doesn't show up for very long!  Everything seems to go well and then I start getting little pop up messages from the right lower corner of my toolbar indicating that this file and that file can't be saved. All the files have symbols like &$% in them.  And after that while the device still shows up in My Computer until the next time I reboot, but none of the files can be accessed even though I can see them.  Weirdest thing I've ever encountered!
