A free shark, albeit a toon one, but it may be of use to you.

If there's a free dolphin around, I can't find it. Maybe someone else knows of one.

Look thru some of the freebies at RDNA. I'm not sure if they're still up, but there used to be some free seafans and a couple underwater type plants.

I checked and the sea plants are still there under Freebies: Poser Props. You need to be a member though. They have a lot of good freebies there if you've never been.

But no octopus or sharks or whales right?

well I may have to buy from daz. thanks anyway

LaurieA ( ) posted Sun, 19 July 2009 at 1:08 AM

There used to be a blue whale around at Mitch's site, but it's a dead link. Debra Ross made a seal and a clown fish I think, but her site's gone too. There used to be a lot more than there is now.

Free static sperm whale (also a poseable one for $14.95)
http://www.poseatier.com/inSAnimals2.html

Fish & a leopard shark 3ds format
http://toucan.web.infoseek.co.jp/3DCG/3ds/FishModelsE.html

Hammerhead shark (non-poseable)
http://www.geocities.com/the_escapist_2000/

You can use the wave deformer to get some more lifelike poses for the static creatures. There used to be a free great white shark but I don't see it anymore. Have you actually started on this epic?

 thanks all!!

"Have you actually started on this epic?"

You mean my movie? Well i still have  to finish up recording some of the voices but after that i'll start.

There's some scenes in the water and underwater so that's why i was looking for marine life. DAZ sells awesome sharks and whales but why waste 24 dollars for a whale that you will only use in 1 scene.

Hey tebop, I wasn't sure if you knew about these fish also. They are in .3ds format, but they might make great background fish and there are ALOT of them, including ocean fish (there's a manta ray in there, a shark and a dolphin).

I feel I should remind you that if you plan on using your animation commercially you probably should buy the models you use. Free stuff, unless the readme by the author is very specific, usually can't be used commercially. If there is no readme, it's not really a good idea to assume that you can either ;o). Just trying to keep your nose clean and your backside out of trouble...lol.

Have fun,

Laurie

so don't worry

LaurieA ( ) posted Sun, 19 July 2009 at 11:28 AM

Oh, I wasn't talking about stealing...lol. Just the use that the content provider allows ;).

tebop ( ) posted Sun, 19 July 2009 at 6:50 PM

raven ( ) posted Mon, 20 July 2009 at 4:11 PM · edited Mon, 20 July 2009 at 4:17 PM

Poser 7 also comes with a baby Killer Whale (Orca) too. It's in the baby animals folder.

Also in the Figures->ContentParadise folder there's an octopus and a crab too.

tebop ( ) posted Mon, 20 July 2009 at 4:34 PM

raven, who has Poser 7? not me!!

LaurieA ( ) posted Mon, 20 July 2009 at 5:10 PM

You have 6, correct?

Laurie

tebop ( ) posted Mon, 20 July 2009 at 9:21 PM

YEs : ) Many people assume i have Poser 7 because they do

LaurieA ( ) posted Mon, 20 July 2009 at 9:40 PM

Well, you know what they say when you assume ;0).

Anyway, I wanted to check what's in Poser 6 (I haven't been in it for awhile, so my memory isn't so good). I'm rendering in Poser 7 right now however and can't seem to open up both?? Anyway, I suppose you went thru all your folders already. If there's no dolphin, octo or crabs, etc. I guess P6 doesn't have them.

Frustrates me...I know there used to be a nice whale on Mitch's 3D Siete. But his site's down now - I think he was having problems with ppl taking credit for his work (which was pretty awesome).

I'll keep an eye out though and I'll post again to this thread if I find anything.

Laurie

tebop ( ) posted Mon, 20 July 2009 at 11:23 PM

 yes.

raven ( ) posted Tue, 21 July 2009 at 12:56 PM

I didn't realise you were on Poser 6, sorry. You should still have a dolphin and angel fish though in the Figures->Animals folder, even in Poser 6.

Realmling ( ) posted Tue, 21 July 2009 at 5:29 PM

If they don't show up in P6, then you'll need to download the Content Legacy packs from CP....unless they've gotten rid of them in the switch over. All the old poser figures/critters are in that.

Crazy alien chick FTW! (yeah....right....)

Although this could be avoided quite easily by saying something like, by the way, I have Poser 6   ;)

LaurieA ( ) posted Tue, 28 July 2009 at 3:56 PM

Hey tebop...just wanted to give you a head's up...there are new prices on Daz's older models and an orca, octo and shark over there for less than $3 bucks each of you're interested. Those prices are permanent now ;o).

raven ( ) posted Wed, 29 July 2009 at 5:48 PM

I'd have a look at the old Sea-Life packs, they're a bit of a bargain now too if you want some marine life. About $6 non-Platinum Club, around $4 if you are in the Platinum Club.

Pack 1 http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/dollar-daze-2004/sea-life-pack?item=1943&cat=959&_m=d has V2 scuba gear, sea turtle, octopus, orca, shark, lionfish, butterfly fish, moray eel, tuna fish and a body board.

Pack 2 http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/dollar-daze-2004/sea-life-pack?item=1944&cat=959&_m=d has M2 scuba gear, seahorse, marlin, walrus, dogface puffer fish, manta ray, angelfish, hippocampus, sea hatchling dragon and some sea stuff.

Granted, they are old models now, but they'll give you some underwater variety.
