New EEF Build 44720 is online. I download atm Poser8 so I didn't have time to test the new build.

Strange, I can't see it in the usual place. All I get is a message "There are currently no updates for Vue 7.5 Infinite". Where did you get this?

Is this another case where only those who have subscribed to the maintenance plan will benefit?  It doesn't show up for me either.

bruno021 ( ) posted Tue, 04 August 2009 at 5:50 PM

Can't find it either.

Mazak ( ) posted Tue, 04 August 2009 at 5:51 PM

You must be logged-in and have Maintenance plan.

I don't have a maintenance plan, so that explains it.

Here what EEF update describes:

Your Maintenance Plan for Vue 7.5 Infinite includes access to free Expedited Engineering Fixes (EEF).

Warning: EEF updates have not undergone the full scope of e-on software update validation. They are provided to you in an attempt to help resolve as quickly as possible any blocking issues you may experience with our software.

It is recommended that you only install EEF updates if one of the issues addressed by the EEF is blocking for you.

Ok, so I don't really need the EEF update then... :-)

thefixer ( ) posted Wed, 05 August 2009 at 1:48 AM

So you only get a "bug fix" update if you have the maintenance plan!!!??

What about the rest who don't have a maintenance plan , do they still have to put up with the bugs!!??

If that's right, that's a pretty shabby way to treat your customers iMO!

FrankT ( ) posted Wed, 05 August 2009 at 2:51 AM

no, that means you only get the EEF if you have a maintenance plan.  Once it goes through the normal bugfix testing then I'd imagine it would be released as normal.  The maintenance plan just means you get it a bit earlier and with a bit less testing

Maintenance people get Alpha tests to try before us regulars get the usual Beta update.  So far, no Beta is available.  If you are having a work stopage with 7.5, you can submit a bug report to the technicians and they will email you a link for you to download a patch if they know of the problem already and that it will fix your situation.

I don't happen to have a major problem right now to email them about.  I'm using build 43360.  I'm glad to know they are still working on 7.5.  But with fewer users out there using the latest build, there are not a lot of testers for E-on to get feedback from for bug fixes.  If they'd just release a beta for everyone to use, they'd get more (or less) bug reports so they could work on those.

But their business plan is a different beast now.

I started a thread for xStream. It says this is a Beta release. Last time it was maintenance it didn't show up at all. Have they changed their method?

Rutra ( ) posted Wed, 05 August 2009 at 7:40 PM

Yes, apparently they did. Now the update description shows up but in the next page, where it mentions "following list"... I see no list.

Does anyone here know if build 44720 fixes the annoying file not found when importing a Poser figure?  I've been hitting cancel each time but the figures seem to load ok anyway.

Never saw that bug. In which situation does it appear?

ShawnDriscoll ( ) posted Wed, 05 August 2009 at 8:14 PM

In Poser 6 save a figure (James) and then open Vue Inf 7.5 and import PZ3 file.  Error message is displayed.  Both apps are installed in their default paths for Windows XP SP3.

I never use the original Poser figures, I only use Daz ones (V4, M3, H3, A3) and these work beautifully. I will try with original figures.
Do you also have problems with Daz figures?

I was hoped they fix the overlapping objects but you see some objects intersect.

DAZ imports, which use the 'Elite Series' of add-ons, show the same problem, Vue complains that file 'blabla_whatever.jpg' (with complete path) could not be found. Of course the path and filename are both valid, and Vue has the permissions to read that file.

Annoying as hell...

Here a new Poser 8 import. I use Poser shader tree! Light is GR and the picture is gamma correct 1.5. Render-time was about 12 minutes. I also tried the new P8 Alison character but the file crash on import. Maybe because a problem with file compression. ATM I did not have decompressed all obj files.

I don't have DAZ Studio.  Just Poser 6 for Windows with the last e-Frontier service release.

Huh?

Login -> Down under 'Registered Products' is a link 'Software Update' which goes to the Build 44720. It's there for 7 days now.

Lucky you.  But for everyone else that doesn't have Engineering Fix access, the beta was finally posted a couple hours ago.

From your statement I assume that we seem to have different license models, however I didn't yet sign any maintenance plans.
Maybe it's because I purchased it just a couple of weekes ago...

It does not.  But Build 44720 did fix a lot of other problems I was having, like texture image bump maps not using the correct shading and highlights.  That was a major pain for years.
