I would like your feedback:
I see some people using multiple program and wonder why. I dont mean userfriendlyness or thing like that but mainly key topics shaders, light and rendering(engine) results.

What are pro's and cons ? Is a mix and match wise.

The work I mainly try (or going to ahahah) are realistic scene with characters. So no elfs or scsi.

Thks in advance.

Well, it is in essence a matter of UI and preferences. I moved away from Poser exactly because of the UI which I find one of the worse in the market. Especially for controlling lights. Studio's interface is more natural, can be customized to levels that are not available with Poser and tools like the Skeleton Setup Tool make the job of rigging way easier than anything I saw in Poser. You'll find that other people pretty much switched for very similar reasons.

About two years ago I was in the same situation questioning what applications would be best for the type of art I wanted to produce. I decided to stick with D|S and learn every aspect possible. Unfortunately none of these applications have that elusive "make art" button that works for every situation and the rules of lighting and materials are not absolute either.

My advice would be as stick with D|S until you learn it well. Expirement with the surface properties as much or more as lighting. I'm one of the few who will stress it in that order though. Advanced shaders are a must IMO too, pwSurface is what I've found to be the most versatile.

By far the most empowering application I've seen though is Photoshop (or similiar 2D app). I haven't publicly posted a non-postworked image in years.

No program is a jack of all trades, so (if you have enough money!) you have many tools and select according to their strenghts and the task you want to accomplish.

From your gallery I see that (at least for now) you are into portraits. I think that DS3 has more than what you need now (especially the Advanced edition which allows you to hand tune 3Dlight behaviour). Even renders more complex then portraits (e.g. showing your ladies in a room with furniture, some plants etc.) are well withing DS3 capabilities.

Should you want to create large scale external sceneries, you are better off using (for those cases) tools like Vue or Carrara.

Vue is more user friendly than Carrara, costs a truckload of money more and does not interate easily with Studio; Carrara has the bonus that can handle Poser content natively and DAZ works hard to make inter-operate with Studio.

You can try Vue downloading the Personal Learning Edition and you have a 30 day trial of Carrara.

Your mileage WILL vary...

Bye!!!
