When a harness has been needed, I usually take the catsuit (aka bodysuit) for the character and use combination of transmap and displacement map to turn it in to resembling such.

The dynamic method is good, but you will probably have to subdivide the dynamic parts into groups that have different shear and stretch resistances for a believable fit.  A harness is not the same as a flowing evening gown.
