Okay, BB, I've run some tests Ironically, it seems that when I follow your advice and turn off shader-based GC in favor of HSVE, that's when IL washes out the AO and oversaturates the character. In my opinion, the middle image is the best of the three.From top to bottom:
IBL-based ambient lighting with shader-based GC and AO, no HSVE
IL-based ambient lighting with shader-based GC and AO, no HSVE
IL-based ambient lighting with light-based AO and HSVE
