Quote - There are two 'switches' that can be thrown to enable a 32-bit system / app to use a maximum of 3Gb RAM.

To enable the 3GB switch on Windows Vista™

  1. Right-click Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
  2. At the command prompt, enter "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072"
  3. Restart the computer.

To turn off the 3GB switch

  1. Right-click on Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
  2. At the command prompt, enter "bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa"
  3. Restart the computer.

For more information on the 3GB switch, refer to the following Microsoft MSDN article:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms791558.aspx

It is then necessary to make the app 'large address aware', but since this was already enabled for Poser 7, it's probably also true of Poser 8.

All this is, of course, at your own risk!

So, if I interpret the linked Microsoft page and the table at the bottom of the page correctly, than Vista 32 and XP 32 make use of upto 4GB anyway
and the 3GB switch doesn't have any effect at all on those operating systems.

Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.
