I think Bill mentioned that

127.0.0.1 ::1 localhost

should be changed to

127.0.0.1 localhost

Can't check it against my own hosts file.  I modified mine along time ago to block unwanted ad banners and third party cookies.  I'm pretty sure getting Poser 8 to work on my system would take some doing ...

laschae, you could make a copy of your original hosts file, make the changes and see what happens.  If Poser is working now you should be all set anyway;)
