As I mentioned above, make sure you've got M4/F4 selected with each clothing item you load. That's the way to have crosstalk working.  So...

• load M4, made sure you've got it selected
• load 1st item of clothing, conform
• select m4 through the pull-down menu or through the hierarchy window (good reason to have it open)
• load 2nd item of clothing, conform
• select m4 through the pull-down menu or through the hierarchy window (good reason to have it open)
• load 3rd item of clothing...

... you get the idea.
