However, you might want to consider getting a copy of UV Mapper (I use the Pro version, but what follows applies to the free version)
With UV Mapper you can Load your model to see what the UV mapping done in Hex looks like.
If you need to UV map it the simplest thing to do would then be to create a new UV Map using the Box method for the player.
Then you could select by group or material and work on part individually. For example after Box mapping the whole model you can then select a material such as menu and map it using planer mapping and make it fill the entire map.
Then when you’re done you would need to Save the Model and you can also Save the Texture Map (i.e., the template) to use as a guide for texturing. When saving the Texture Map you can chose to not show parts that are hidden, so for example you can hide the menu and save a Texture Map for the rest of the model and then show the menu and hide the rest of the model and save a Texture Map for the menu.
Here are a few useful UVMapper Keyboard shortcuts:
=: Expands the current selection to fill the entire map
‘: Hide unselected
]: Show selected
[: Hide selected
