Check if the Poser export of the combined figure hasn't messed up the grouping.

Open the object file in a text editor and check if Poser has added a ":1" and/or ":2" to the groups.
(Like "head" has become "head:1")

If so, delete every occurence of ":1" or ":2" and so on.

Then try again.
