Yesterday evening I was able to use Poser for several hours without encountering any library problems.

It seems that ZoneAlarm firewall was the culprit. I had set it up to allow Poser 8 through, but that did not help. I disabled the service and the program using MsConfig, but that also did not help. The only thing that helped was completely uninstalling it.

So, I think I can confidently report that ZoneAlarm firewall and Poser 8 do not peacefully co-exist on the same computer. 

I can now use Poser 8, whereas before it was a huge pain and almost impossible to complete any task. For me this is a huge relief.
