Subject: scars on characters?

dasquid ( ) posted Fri, 25 September 2009 at 11:16 PM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 4:00 AM

Back in the early days of V3 there was a character who had great looking scars (was a warrior character) I need some scars for a character I am making but I haven't found any characters that have scars that look very good since then. I guess I need to figure out how to make my own and I think I remember seeing a tutorial on that  several years ago but I have slept since then so no clue where that was.

texture or shader either one will be fine not sure how it would be done that's why I am asking about it.

There are a number of postwork sets at renderotica store for making scars (Dr Taj sets). They are generally image layers and bump maps. There may be something in the store here , and there were some free ones if you search, photoshop layers scars .

I approached this by searching google when I wanted to do blood, but the have lots of scars there too just cut the scar out of the image and paste it onto the texture, I had to use a fill tool in paint shop pro to edit out unwanted skin tones around the blood by pasting it transparent each time I select an unwanted color in the image.

Here is a figure texture I wanted to be injured and bleeding, I have not finished the texture edit of the blood, this is like 15 mins into the post editing of adding the bloody parts to the jeaps rodan.

once I carefully edit the blood maybe even use some 3d blood drops to add to it, I can make a really good gore texture, I even see places I can add open wounds and and dark almost black blood drops.
