Here's a web site that's helpful in "brainstorming" about symptoms and possible causes, areas to look into. If you have some other specific symptoms, you can enter them all and the site will offer possiblities.

By the way, we programmers all get sudden strong pains that make us feel like dying. They're called "users". ;-)
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
