Rhapsody MotoBlocs

Anyone tried it? Is it anything like Animate for DS?  I'm just wondering if it's easy to work with and if the motions are realistic.

Check out their website. There's video examples of some of their motions.  http://www.sas-3d.com/

It appears to be like animation layers so you can mix and match several animation "bits" to a longer animation. Interesting concept, I am tempted... only they're a bit on the expensive side...

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Yeah, I've looked at the videos and found them unconvincing. Like you say, it is a bit expensive which is why was hoping to hear from someone that has bought it to give some insight into it's application.

What I should do is save the money, get off my arse and learn how to animate! ;)

My thoughts exactly.

The walks look nice but the sitting.. not so good.

Then again, sitting down is hard to animate in a convincingm atter, even with BVH's

I made for myself such "sets" (only 3 :) - "start",  "walk" and "stop" - and later extended for another 2 ("start" and "stop" shorter versions), then I made a script for puting that all together and the result was really nice.
There's still one more "set" ready to use "turn".

Later I just gave up that whole idea and I know why: making all those "sets" by hand was a "time consuming" task.

Take a look at that video - it is done from those "sets" of mine with the help of python scipt (this version has no IK on feet):

There's one more thing I should mention: as you can see she's supposed to wear some heels - but she doesn't. The reason is quite simple (and funny): after I made them I realized that I had no shoes to fit that particular "pose of foot" - so maybe in the futere I'll just remake it:).

So you're saying it's better to learn to do it from scratch rather then spending time pasting together other peoples work? right?  That's a very nice animation by the way. Very natural looking.  So you did the animation in Poser just with keyframe animation?

No way:) Especially if before you had no contact with animating inside Poser - it can be great PITA sometimes. So maybe it's better to take what others offer.
