IMVHO it's better to take care of that ASAP.  far more important to catch this early, than some paper-sorting or bus-boy job.  there may be some hospitals in L.A. which will still treat ya and then bill based on ability to pay.  in general, they're required to treat emergency patients regardless of ability to pay. but chronic care requires insurance.  best wishes for a good outcome.
