Unfortunately, I've seen it, too. In fact, in some adult mIRC channels, there's a program that floats around - can't remember the name - but basically, it gives another person complete and utter control over your computer - you can still do things, but THEY can override ANYTHING and EVERYTHING - and they see/log EVERYTHING - what's scary is people WANT this.
My dad even set up his system to log everything done on his own computer... and caught my now ex-hubby going to adult sites... and one is placed on my daughter's computer as well, to monitor her activities.
I was chatting with another friend of mine one night years ago... a techie guru dude... and all of a sudden, he started cursing and then went quiet for about 15 minutes. When he came back, he was chuckling... seems someone had hacked into HIS computer, and he happened to catch them at it... and he returned the favor, with a little time bomb present on the other person's hard drive.
Its like some kind of high-tech sci-fi war, but it IS real, and it happens every day.
Even Rosity has been hacked before - at least once that I can remember in the past couple of years. If I remember right, they even planted a nice little pressie for those who managed to post that day.... i couldn't post (which confused me that day) - the boxes didn't show up at all... but from what I am understanding (and i could be way wrong here), the whole "pressie" part was set up to take advantage of something in I.E. - and those of us who used Firefox managed to avoid it.
Its a sad sad world when people cannot respect other people's privacy/personal space - not only that, but they feel they must destroy it as well.
Rarer than a hairy egg and madder than a box of frogs....
