It's not the limits of the tools, but how far beyond them you can go. In this case, you might have been able to correct the shoulder problem by just bringing the shoulder and upper arm back a bit. Not much, since the gap that's emerging isnt that big in the first place. A slight repositioning, and you probably would have been able to fix this.
