Quote - So, what happens? The security business is booming like rabbits in Australia, we must all buy security systems and spy on our neighbhors,

Some days ago a business man had his house robbed. He spend 50,000 in security equipment and watched and view his house being robbed through internet from his office, he saw bandits leaving with all the booty and then police arriving to a wrong house.
50,000$ for nothing!!

Stupidity also evolves!

AND NOW FOR A BRIEF INTERMISSION

Speaking about security and terrorism, some time ago I was colecting satellite data of the earth.
There is a lot of public data and you can make your terrains or research, in my case Gondwana.
During my internet research I found some forums, coments and information.
Almost all the Earth surface was mapped with some precision by satellites and Afghanistan is located in planet Earth, so after the invasion of Afghanistan all satellite data from there vanished from the internet, national security!!
First some questions, what's the importance for national security that you have some Afghanistan's DEM or see that is some mountain there? For what the Hell Taleban need satellite data of Afghanistan?, they live there!
And the second and funny part, what has vanished and removed from the internet was only satellite data, classic topographic maps that are much more detailed and precise continue to be available without any problem

Stupidity also evolves!

Okay this thread was originally started regarding the recent announcement at 3DCommune so we either need to keep it on track or unfortunately the thread will end up having to be locked. Please let's just wish Mark and all the staff, vendors and members from 3DC good luck and keep all this other stuff out of this thread.

Thank you

Yeah, the thread is getting way off topic.
I was going to post my defense attorney case for the good and positive aspects of humanity now that I have played public prosecutor and comdemned the human race to perdition, but that will have to be done on another thread.

Here is a 3DCommune vendor glaring at Mark**

Doctor Who, Carnival of Monsters
Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, Jo Grant as his assistant.

(from memory) (should say thats NOT the Doctor and Jo in the picture)

Yup, thats a scene from "Carnival of Monsters" that I snapped from a taped TV broadcast using my trusty old SNAPPY gadget, many years ago.
The SNAPPY gadget is now obsolete.

Maybe the character below had his hand in the termination of the 3DCommune.

Take a look at this old post to get an historical view of this website, and how it has changed, for better, or worse.

Hi Grincho / Groucho!

Thanks for the flash back and those zany memories! That old stuff was/is not only "historical", but also "hysterical"! :)

Okay this is kind of ridiculous that a thread started regarding 3DC closing and members here wanting to wish them well has turned into this . Please use the gallery for posting images but remember they have to be your own work.

Thread Locked and thank you to all those members that did take this thread seriously and we wish all the 3DC folks well.
