Installing anything into the program files folders in Vista & 7 can cause problems, especially if you have UAC running or if you fail to run the installer with admin rights.
I have found that switching off UAC (although potentially dangerous to the system) takes away most of the problems, I haven't had to run any of the Posers in compatibility mode either, but that might just be luck on my part.
My first attempt at installing into Program Files with UAC running caused the entire system to grind to a halt needing the power to be switched off to get it running again, so don't do it. ;)
