At the church I attend we once had a huge image of the Bristol, Tennessee, USA race track across  the front of the church auditorium.  This was part of a summer kids event.   The image consisted of many hundreds of images, shot, printed on paper and "stitched" by hand into the final view.  It was very impressive...it was a collage.

The huge image of this link is impressive but it is also a collage.  Still, the feat is surprising in that it was taken on and accomplished.  

Sorry to say I could not effectively utalize the file size on my monitor !  :  )     Considering the number of photos used, the consistency and stitching are impressive.
