My last post: Small town street, lined with sellers of antiques, one beauty salon, one photography studio and a hardware store: The Christmas tree is a tree living there, decorated in the style of lights for what year it might be. This area was once a trading spot for pearls, fresh water pearls from mussels. Altered water has all but eliminated the mussels. When Mikimoto started cultured saltwater pearls, a secondary market came to be with thick mussel shells(mother-of-pearl and lovely polished) sold and cut to make centers for the cultured pearls. The pearl and shell business has been gone more years than I have been alive but native freshwater pearls always command a certain share of the jewelry market, even if less available than before.
The Christmas decorations on the street poles show only slightly but I like the quiet mid evening scene of small town street.
PJ, Family participation is what I felt in my previous photo but those words eluded me when I did the post. I can hear a child saying, "Daddy, can I put my lights over here.." That was nice.
