Here's another way of putting drop shadows in a new layer without using the default shadow effects and eye candy in PS-- 1. select outline of the object 2. create new layer 3. fill in the selection with solid color (gray or black or whatever you want the shadow color to be) 4. go to Effects|Blur|Gaussian Blur and customize the effect 5. play around with the opacity and the position of the shadow. This way if you want to remove the drop shadow or change its color anytime, you may do so without so much hassle. Of course, you guys might know this already. :-)
